History

Background

The Legal Aid Law was promulgated in 2016. On January 18, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw passed Law No. 10 of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. On 29 December, the Supreme Court of the Union was formed with the promulgation order of the Supreme Court of the Union (1018/2017) in accord with the duties and powers contained in Section 6 and 7 of the Act. Then, the Union Legal Aid Office was formed. It opened on May 11 and now has offices in the regions and states starting legal assistance.
